Geeky Etsy Finds: Dreampunk

It’s our first geeky Etsy find of the new year! Before I dive into the awesomeness, I want to remind you that if you or your friend, acquaintance, or twitter buddy have a geeky Etsy that you think we should feature, drop us a line on twitter (@girlsaregeeks) or through email at girlsaregeeks@gmail.com.

Now, onto something that most geeky girls love on at least some level: jewelry with a geek twist. In this case, it is steampunk, or dreampunk which I will let our crafter Kristin (bionicunicorn) tell you about.

What do you make?

I make dreampunk jewelry. Dreampunk is a variation of steampunk that is more feminine in style and features nature inspired elements. My style of steampunk focuses on a harmony between technology and nature, and emphasizes the Utopian aspect of a steampunk world.

Who are you and/or how did you get started?

Who am I? A very wild and imaginative person named Kristin. I have always been obsessed with jewelry – I have a large collection. I’m rather spontaneous. Just over 2 years ago I decided I wanted to make jewelry and I did. I pretty much just dove into it.

What makes your items great for geeks?

My jewelry is great for geeks because it is inspired by science fiction and fantasy. I like to create jewelry that makes the wearer feel as if they possess magical powers.

What sorts of geeky stuff are you into?

I’m into a lot of geeky stuff, you know, Star Wars, Fringe, The X Files, anime, etc. I also love playing video games, specifically Soul Calibur 4. I have spent hours on the character creation mode. I like to make badass female characters and then fight them against my friends.

There you go, some great geeky personal decorative stuff to spend that Christmas money on. Come on! You know you got some! Also, she’s offering a discount to our readers, so type in girlsaregeeks (all one word) in the coupon code box at checkout for 15% off!
